Just a short summary of last weekends antics. It kicked off Saturday with round 2 of the welsh series held at the showground Builth Wells. For many and myself included I was a slightly apprehensive about the course. I knew the area and have ridden a few cross style races held there. "Could their be enough scope for a mountain bike cx race?"

Well along with many others I believe I was surprised! Although not a very technical (welsh circuit) there was enough rough singletrack, off camber sections and a few little drops, alongside a little rock garden and I long road climb. Which after going up it 6 times I can safely say it didn't get any easier!!

Hali Rae was first out on her bike, and a very technical under 8's course! However, racey Rae with a little coercion
And assistance by mummy managed to make it round twice and take third spot. Well done flossie!! A few more years of growing needed!

Then it was my race, all the women go off together. And with a strong elite field and only myself actually entered in the expert I had decided I would join in the sport, masters, vets etc and do one less lap!! It was great to see more women racing than usually. The gun went and it was straight up the road climb, again a terrible start but I soon overtook up the climb, trying to hang on to the sight of the elites and not loose touch with the juniors. I couldn't really tell who was in front and who was behind me, but I knew I wasn't last and that all the elites were in front, I could see them just ahead.  I think by lap 3 I managed to see I was gaining on the elite women, a little unsure as to who, as there were two torq riders. It wasnt long and I passed ruby I think. Then I pushed on, then out of the blue on the 4 lap I think, I caught a glimpse of Lydia Gould behind me, she had crept up unknowingly to me!! I had to work hard to keep her at bay. There was no room for mistakes. This meant we were battling for first and second. I keep in front and I just  about managed it and kept I front right to the line. However, as it was a short circuit and so many laps I got confused and as jay had me down as in the experts he only mentioned that Lydia had finished after I continued on with my lap.on doing the first loop, I decided that although I had finished technically I would carry on slowly and use it as training. I don't know why, as I had a triathlon the next day!!!  Anyway as I was pootling along
Carla Haines riding for torq came up behind me, I let her get by as I want in her cat, but unknowingly to me, during my little battle with Lydia I must have past both the elite torq riders. I just pedalled on to the line taking the win in the expert cat.

After a quick presentation it was on to Phil's race, which also had ant racing too. I won't go into much detail but a great race phil lead from the start and was five minutes clear of second place master. With Ant 1st I the vets but second a bit back on phil. Well done XCracer.com/scimitar!!

As you have probably read Phil's blog, he was dull enough to do the Scott night ride aswell, I watched a bit of it then headed home. In search of sleep and a miracle recovery to get up at 5 to head to my second ever triathlon. I'm not converting but I like to mix it up!! Acracking result for me with the xc on the Saturday and then taking second woman overall and first in my category on the tri on the Sunday, with very tired peggies!!!

Well done to all the XCracer crew and it was great to race in my new kit!! And also to wear a comfy kask helmt, which I purchased the day. Entire from Cycle Tec, Builth WellsPlenty of positive comments!!

Also well done to cycle tec for putting on a great weekend. Don't forget to enter the next welsh round the welsh champs at forest fields on May the 18th online and save a few quid.
