It's just fantastic riding again. Over the past 3 weeks I have been able to build up time on the road bike. I am now comfy riding for 2 hours at a gentle pace and able to ride 5 times a week. Hopefully it will not be too long before my pelvis can cope with the demands of interval training. Hills are becoming less of an issue which is great giving me more options of where to cycle.

It's been interesting to see how my body responds to cycling again. For the first couple of rides sitting on a saddle for any length of time was an issue, then I was suffering with back ache, groin ache and hip ache but fairly quickly these have died down and over the past week during a couple of rides it has been my leg muscles aching more than the surrounding pelvis area. The pelvis is mending and I am more than happy to cycle and build up strength in my legs again.

Whilst riders were racing at 24-12 I went for a couple of stunning road rides skirting Dartmoor which Maddie Horton very kindly plotted out for me. From Newnham Park I climbed up on to moorland which with just a few cars around was so peaceful.  From there the route dropped down into a couple of quaint villages before climbing back up and down again to Burrator reservoir, a stop to marvel at the view then on past a few more villages which were linked by very steep hills that I managed to crawl up and crawl back down the other side. Then past some more stunning scenery before heading back. Just amazing.

This weekend just past, to celebrate me riding again, we went camping in Newport in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, for a couple of nights. From there we rode some beautiful routes up over the Presellis and a nice leisurely loop with ice cream and café stop to St David's and back, this was a 60 mile loop and although the hip ached for the last 20miles and for some time afterwards it felt not so bad the next day. On the Sunday we went for a social mountain bike ride in the Forest of Dean. Fourteen weeks off the mountain bike and I was not sure how it was going to feel. It was amazing. As my confidence grew my grin got bigger. It was so much fun to be chasing through single track again. I love it.

I have got a fantastic month ahead of me to enjoy riding. Swimming has vanished as quickly as it arrived and I think it could be awhile before I return to a swimming pool. Hopefully it will be a while before I return to A&E also!
