Those wishing to attend the Hadleigh Farm 2012 Olympic XC MTB test event, on 31st July 2011, who have yet to get a ticket, will need to hurry to pick up one of the "handful" of tickets remaining for this ticket only event. If you read this at the weekend you will probably be too late. You will however be able to see the racing reported on the XC Racer website.

The International line-up includes Beijing 2008 Olympic gold medallists Sabine Spitz (Germany) and Julien Absalon (France). Absalon was also Olympic Champion in Athens 2004.  Other International riders are the World Cup series leaders Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) & Julie Bresset (France).

British riders include Maddie Horton in the Women's race with Lee Williams, David Fletcher & Kenta Gallagher in the Men's.

A total of 104 riders (60 male & 44 female) from 25 Nations will be riding. Those selected to represent their countries for next years Olympics will hope to gain valuable insight on the course to decide on how best to set up their bikes and what tactics they need to employ in 2012. They will also be hoping to pluck some of the £4000 prize fund put up for this International event.

The Course is unusual to past Olympic designs which have been laid out in forested areas. Hadleigh has the demanding and technical aspects required by top flight riders along with the huge attraction for Spectators, the Media and the Riders themselves of being more open with large areas of the course visible throughout the racing. This style of course is very likely to be copied in future because of these benefits.

LOCOG will be specifically testing the race course, venue admission, timing, scoring and the transportation logistics ready for next years Olympic event there, with Cycle ways and Park and Ride laid on, a large area around the event will become a no-go area for parking to all but the local residents who have been issued with car badges.

Details of the transport available and road closures around the event can be found on www.londonpreparesseries.com
