Working on the chaingang

It's been a while since I've raced- over two months unbelieveably but I've still been trying to ride my bike as much as I can. Last night was the now, seemingly, way too popular Abergavenny Chaingang. There must've been over 30 of us but that was soon hacked down to about 8 and each of us taking it in turn on the front. I've used the image below before but for me it really does sum up the effort involved. Especially since Lee Williams of now Gateway Cycles was out. I didn't realise it was Lee until he decided to hit the front on the run-in back into Abergavenny! It really is (for me anyway) head down and eyeballs out for an hour. To really put the boot in I cycle to the meet and back and manage to fit in a 90km ride on a Tuesday night which is useful. I am determined that come June I will be still fighting to be at the front of this bloody chaingang!

I'll still be slow and fighting for mid-pack mediocrity at this weekend's Welsh round up at Fforest Fields. The course looks great but for a lump like me those hills mean pain and another eyeballs out session. Can't wait to be racing again!
